Chelsea have offered their striker Liam Delap to Aston Villasources have told Football Insider.

The London giants have agreed to sign Morgan Rogers in a club-record £117million deal and are now turning to offloading fringe players who can secure significant fees.

One of those is Delap, who is surplus to requirements at Chelsea under new manager Xabi Alonso.

Sources say Villa are not interested in the 23-year-old striker this summer.

Instead, Unai Emery want to recruit a more dynamic and pacy attacker to reinforce his front line.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on Monday that Villa have enquired about Nicolas Jackson, who is seen as a more suitable option to meet the club’s needs than Delap.

Delap has struggled to make an impact since his £30million move to Chelsea last summer from Ipswich Town.

The striker only netted one Premier League goal for the Blues in the 2025-26 campaign.

What does the future hold for Liam Delap at Chelsea?

It became clear in the 2025-26 campaign that Delap is simply not good enough to lead the line at Chelsea.

The striker missed numerous glorious chances, which eventually saw him relegated to the bench.

However, despite Premier League sides like Everton being interested in the attacker, there is a chance he stays at Stamford Bridge this summer.

Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Delap intends to stay and fight for his place at Chelsea.

The striker intends of impressing Xabi Alonso this pre-season as the new manager assesses his squad.

However, if a new striker is brought in, and Alonso does not think he is good enough, it is likely that he will be moved on.

How bad was Delap last season?

Delap no doubt had arguably the worst season of his professional career at Chelsea.

According to Fotmob, he was averaging 0.08 goals, a 0.36 xG, 2.94 shots, 0.90 shots on target, 0.00 assists, a 0.02 xA, 0.25 chances created, 0.82 successful dribbles and 2.04 aerial duels won per 90 minutes in the Premier League.

This was a massive comedown from his time at Ipswich Town, where he netted 12 Premier League goals as the Tractor Boys fell back into the Championship.

However, Delap has clearly shown he is capable of scoring goals before, and there is every chance he bounces back in the 2026-27 campaign, whether that be at Chelsea or elsewhere.

Nevertheless, it remains to be seen how the striker performs in the upcoming season as he looks to get his career back on track.
