'What a prospect he could be' - Legendary scout wowed by new Everton signing

Chelsea have made an error by allowing the hugely exciting Tyrique George to leave and join Everton this summer.

That is the opinion of former senior Everton scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.

The 20-year-old found his first goal for the Toffees on Sunday as they drew 2-2 with Manchester United, firing into the top corner with a thumping finish.

George spent the second half of last season on loan at Hill Dickinson Stadium before completing a £24million permanent move this summer, signing a long-term contract.

The winger had broken through from the academy at Chelsea and even scored six goals for the senior team, but seemed to get lost in the never-ending swarm of arriving talent at Stamford Bridge.

Everton will hope to be the beneficiary, with the youngster getting his season off to a great start on Sunday.

Tyrique George is 'exciting'

With Everton failing to bring in a new striker on transfer deadline day while parting ways with Iliman Ndiaye and Beto, there has been plenty of pressure placed on the likes of George.

The suggestion has even made that he could appear through the middle as Thierno Barry's alternative, if necessary.

But on Sunday, he showed his value out on the wing with an impressive performance that was much more than just a brilliant goal.

George also created three chances, was fouled three times and completed four successful dribbles, all while getting his defensive duties done.

"George is a very interesting player indeed. He's really come and shown that Chelsea made a mistake to let him go," King told Football Insider.

"He's an exciting player. I mean, he's got pace, good running with the ball. I think he will be a big asset because they've got him on the left. They've got [Brennan] Johnson on the right.

"They don't look bad as wide players go. They ain't bad players. And this kid, George, is only 20. What a prospect he could be. And I think he could fill his [Ndiaye's] boots."

George could be another James Garner

Everton have a history of producing their own talents, but they are also prone to spotting an opportunity.

The signing of James Garner was a prime example - the Manchester United product cost just £15m to sign in 2022.

Considering his progress since, the midfielder would likely cost five or six times more than that if Everton were to sell now.

George can enjoy a similar path over the coming years, and the signs are already looking positive.
