By Amir Mir

Chris Sutton aimed a massive dig at Rangers by claiming they are “closer” to Partick Thistle after their 2-1 defeat to Old Firm rivals Celtic.

Brendan Rodgers side defeated the Gers 2-1 at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon after Kenny Miller had put the home side in the lead early in the first half.

But, Moussa Dembele’s powerful strike from a corner levelled the scores going into the break with the Gers producing the better of the chances.

However, after the interval, winger Scott Sinclair tapped in the winner, which secured a 15th consecutive win for the Bhoys.

After the game, club legend Sutton could not help but aim a huge dig at Rangers as posted on his personal Twitter account.

As a result, Mark Warburton’s men are 18 points ahead of Partick Thistle in the league table having played the same amount of games as the Glasgow club.

This was the third time this season that Rodgers masterminded a win against Rangers.

The Bhoys thrashed their rivals 5-1 in the league in September, before a 1-0 victory to knock them out of the Scottish League Cup semi-final.
