'I have it on good authority' - Chris Sutton delivers Celtic transfer revelation, fans will go into meltdown
By Harry Sykes
Chris Sutton has revealed that he has been told that Celtic will complete the signing of Patrick Roberts.
The Scottish treble winners have been working on a deal to land the winger on loan but have been unable to agree terms with his parent club Manchester City.
Celtic want to land Roberts, 20, in time for him to play in Wednesday’s first-leg Champions League qualification clash against FC Astana but must seal the deal by Uefa’s 11pm deadline on Tuesday.
But BT Sport pundit and ex-Hoops star Sutton made the revelation in a live Facebook broadcast on Tuesday evening that the deal is all but done for Roberts to return for a second spell at the club.

“There is a signing deadline tonight – 11 o’clock,” Currie said.” If Celtic bring someone in before 11 o’clock tonight, that player could feature tomorrow.
“And we think there’s a very good chance that a player might come tonight and that player might well be Patrick Roberts.”
Sutton explained on Facebook, as quoted by the BT Sport Football Twitter account: “Huge announcement. I’ve had it on good authority that Patrick Roberts will sign for Celtic. 100% the player wants to come, it’s just dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s.
“So that would be huge news for Celtic.”
England Under-20 international Roberts made a huge impression for Celtic during an 18-month loan that ended in June.
The wide forward’s haul of 11 goals and 19 assists from 43 league and cup appearances was crucial to the club’s treble-winning campaign last season.
