Chris Sutton has admitted that there is still a lot of work to do by Celtic following their 1-0 defeat to Anderlecht in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Brendan Rodgers’ side ended their excursion in Europe’s most prestigious competition on a bittersweet note at Parkhead as Jozo Simunovic’s own goal handed the Belgian giants a narrow win.
However the Hoops managed to cling on to third place in Group B and as a result will feature in the knock-out rounds of the Europa League in the New Year.
That was the aim all along from Rodgers, who would have no doubt known it would have been a near-impossible task to progress in the Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich also in their group.
After the game, BT Sport pundit Sutton took to his personal Twitter account to admit that there is still a long way to go for Celtic, but took the time to rave about the senior duo of Scott Brown and Olivier Ntham for their displays against Anderlecht.
“Job done European football after Christmas. Better second half but a loss all the same. Brown and Ntcham outstanding. Lots of hardwork to do at this level,” he said.

Celtic managed to scrape qualification to the Europa League thanks to their 3-0 mauling of Anderlecht in Brussels earlier this season.
The two sides ended up on the same amount of points and with Anderlecht on a better goal difference, however in European competition, results against level teams are considering first when they are level.
