Chris Sutton names three Rangers and three Celtic players in first TOTW of the season

By Danny Wright

In his first team of the week of the Scottish Premiership season, Chris Sutton decided to name an equal amount of Rangers and Celtic players in his squad.

Light Blues trio Wes Foderingham, Lee Wallace and Graham Dorrans were all selected after they helped their side get off to a good start with a narrow win at Motherwell.

Sutton also picked three Celtic players to feature in his team, with Jozo Simunovic, Callum McGregor and Leigh Griffiths representing the Hoops for their displays in the victory against managerless Hearts.

There was also a place for Michael O’Halloran in the former England international’s team, as he managed to score a great goal in his first league appearance for St. Johnstone since completing his loan move away from Ibrox.

Sutton posted his team of the week on his personal Twitter account on Monday morning.

Dorrans is perhaps Rangers’ stand-out player in Sutton’s team after the Scot managed to bag a brace on his debut for the Gers in a 2-1 win at Fir Park on Sunday.

Celtic saw their Scottish Premiership title defence get off to a flyer with a 4-1 hammering of Hearts, who just days earlier had sacked manager Ian Cathro.

Griffiths managed to score twice while Scott Sinclair and McGregor also popped up with the goals for Rodgers’ side.

The Bhoys begin their League Cup defence on Tuesday night when they welcome Kilmarnock to Parkhead, while the Light Blues will look to string together two wins in a row on Wednesday when they play host to Dunfermline.

In other Rangers news, Sutton has said that the jury is still out on this Ibrox new boy, who has been likened to Argentinean legend Diego Maradona.
