Eriksen delivers Tottenham title verdict, highlights plan of action

By Danny Wright

Christian Eriksen is in no doubt that Tottenham are still capable of winning the Premier League title this season.

Following Chelsea’s unexpected defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday, Spurs are just seven points behind them in the race for the championship.

Antonio Conte’s side welcomes Manchester City to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night while Tottenham are away against an improving Swansea side.

Eriksen has highlighted that he and his teammates must not get ahead of themselves though and wants to take each game as it comes between now and the end of the season.

“On paper we still have a chance, but we know there is a lot in-between. Nine games to go, nine very exciting games to go,” said the 25-year-old to Sky Sports.

“If you lose some you are out of it, if you win some you are right in it. So of course it will be very tight.

“I think we are taking one game at a time, and then we will see.

“In our world at the moment we are focused on getting closer to Chelsea. We still have a few games to go.”

Eriksen has been one of the stand-out performers in the top flight and only Kevin De Bruyne and Gylfi Sigurdsson have provided more than his 10 assists in the current campaign.

In all competitions, the Danish international has scored 10 goals and supplied a further six assists in 39 appearances.

Spurs still need to play Man United and bitter rivals Arsenal at White Hart Lane in their final league fixtures while Chelsea still have meetings with both Manchester clubs.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side will come to blows with Chelsea this month in an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.

Tottenham could have won the league last season but for a terrible run of results in their final few games which saw them finish in third place.
