Pierre-Michel Lasogga has signed for Leeds United on a season-long loan from Hamburg – fans have taken to Twitter to express their delight.

Leeds announced on their official website and Twitter account that they had completed the deadline day capture of the strapping German striker, 25.

Lasogga, who stands at 6ft 2in, will wear the number nine shirt at Elland Road this season.

The Elland Road faithful took to social media to welcome the forward, who had slipped down the pecking order at Hamburg but has a fine track record in the Bundesliga.

Lasogga becomes the 16th summer signing at Leeds in a remarkable overhaul of the squad that finished seventh under Garry Monk last season.

They wrapped up their business on deadline day with the permanent signing of forward Pawel Cibicki on a four-year contract and the loan capture of Lasogga.

The former Germany Under-21 international has been signed to compete with Caleb Ekuban, Jay-Roy Grot and Cibicki for the Leeds spearhead role following the sale of Chris Wood to Burnley.
