Stan Collymore has suggested that Liverpool’s key players will leave the club because they will get tired of not winning anything.
In his column for the Daily Mirror, the pundit suggested that Philippe Coutinho, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane could leave the club in the near future due to the side’s lack of silverware.
“There’s a fear Philippe Coutinho will depart Merseyside soon, and Sadio Mane or Mo Salah in the not-too-distant future,” revealed Collymore.
“That’s because it doesn’t take long for lads who are turning it on in attack week after week to grow tired if they’re not winning anything.”
The pundit went on to reveal that the Reds’ forwards will be bemused about being fifth in the league despite scoring heaps of goals.
Salah currently leads Harry Kane in the race for the Premier League’s golden boot having scored 14 goals in 18 league appearances this season.
Collymore said a similar situation to how Robin Van Persie left Arsenal to join Manchester United in order to win trophies, would happen at Liverpool.
The pundit suggested that Liverpool need to improve their defence in order to keep their attackers happy, comparing Liverpool’s back-line to a “misfiring Escort.”
The Reds are 18 points off league leaders Manchester City, but could still win trophies this season as they remain in the Champions League and FA Cup.
Liverpool are set to play Everton on January 5 in the FA Cup third round and are due to face Porto in the first knockout stage of the Champions League in February.
