Alan Hutton heaped praise on Aston Villa attacker Anwar El Ghazi after he scored in the 2-2 draw with Burnley on Saturday.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former Villans right-back shared that he thought El Ghazi was a massive player for Dean Smith’s side last season and that this had continued to be the case in the Premier League.
El Ghazi scored his second league goal of the season against Sean Dyche’s side but his game was ended early as he was substituted in the 70th minute following a clash of heads.
Hutton admitted that he thought El Ghazi had made a slow start to the season but that the 24-year-old was now starting to find his feet in the Premier League as he was looking fit and strong.
“I think he is one of the best,” Hutton told Football Insider.
“For me last season in the Championship he was a massive player and he has continued it on.
“He had a slow start at the beginning to find his feet, like some of the other players also, I think the Premier League is one of the toughest leagues in the world, if not the toughest, so he was going to take time to adapt just like the other boys.
“He’s coming into his own now, looking fit, looking strong and as you say scoring goals.”
El Ghazi joined Aston Villa on a permanent basis in the summer after spending his 2018/19 campaign on loan at Villa Park from Lille.
The 24-year-old winger racked up six goals as well as six assists across his 36 outings last season in order to convince the Villans to take him on a permanent basis.
In other Aston Villa news, it can be REVEALED that the club have set their sights on a £20million-plus January signing.
