Leeds United have welcomed Swedish duo Noel Tornqvist and Ardian Berisha to Elland Road on a week’s long trial ahead of a prospective transfer deal.
The pair confirmed their time in Yorkshire to Swedish publication 24 Halmstad, with time spent with the club’s under-23 side at the Whites’ training ground until Sunday, with the senior side having been in Spain on a warm weather training camp.
Tornqvist, a 16-year-old goalkeeper, has linked up from Sweden’s fourth tier side IS Halmia, and it is his second visit to Yorkshire after a previous trial back in November.
Meanwhile 19-year-old striker Berisha, who is currently without a club after seeing his deal with Halmstads BK, said that it would be a “dream” to secure a contract with the Whites, in what is the first foreign trial of his career.
Football Insider verdict
Leeds are evidently looking to source some of the best talent from across Europe and trials give them a chance to run the rule over potential signings. The fact Tornqvist is making his second appearance in front of the coaches at the club suggests that they have been impressed by the young goalkeeper, while Berisha may be one which has been recommended to them from elsewhere considering his contract situation. Still, Thomas Christiansen has not seen anything of them with the senior side’s training camp, so there may be one day to impress before their time with the Whites comes to an end.
