Leeds United are on the verge of sealing an out-of-window signing from Asia, according to director of football Victor Orta.

The Elland Road recruitment chief made the revelation in a Q&A with supporters on Facebook on Monday night.

"We are near to signing a big surprise from Asia," Orta said, as quoted by the personal Twitter account of Leeds supporter Chris Taylor.

Orta did not divulge the identity of the player, or give any details about his position, but it is a surprise given that the transfer window closed last Thursday.

Leeds signed 16 new players during the summer, culminating in the deadline day arrivals of forward pair Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Pawel Cibicki.

The dizzying overhaul comes after the team finished seventh in the Championship last season under former manager Garry Monk.

Leeds have made an excellent start to the new campaign under Thomas Christiansen, accumulating 11 points from five league matches and demolishing lower league opposition in their two League Cup fixtures.
