Confirmed Liverpool line-up v Hoffenheim: 27-year-old omitted in five changes

Jurgen Klopp has made five changes to his Liverpool team which takes on Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim in the Champions League qualifying play-off round second-leg on Wednesday evening.

The German manager has decided to bring Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dejan Lovren, Alberto Moreno, Emre Can and Mohamed Salah into his starting XI following Saturday’s 1-0 Premier League victory over Crystal Palace.

This has then resulted in 27-year-old striker Daniel Sturridge being omitted from the eleven and starting from the bench, while Joe Gomez, Ragnar Klavan, Andrew Robertson and James Milner have also dropped out of the Merseyside giants’ line-up.

Liverpool confirmed their line-up via their official Twitter account prior to the 7.45pm kick off at Anfield.

Liverpool are going into the clash with a 2-1 lead on aggregate after a goal from youngster Alexander-Arnold alongside a Havard Nordtveit own goal gave the Reds the victory in Germany last Tuesday.

Another victory on Wednesday will send the prestigious English club to the Champions League group stage for the first time since the 2014-15 campaign.

Hoffenheim, meanwhile have never played in Europe’s elite competition properly a shock victory on Wednesday evening would surely go down in history as one the club’s greatest ever results.

But, beating Liverpool at Anfield will prove a tough ask for many and Klopp’s side will also be fully focused on reaching the group stages.
