Confirmed Liverpool line-up: Prolific attacker axed in Klopp shock

By Harvey Byrne

Liverpool have made one change to their side to face Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has decided to bring defensive midfielder Emre Can back into his line-up.

This has resulted in prolific attacker Divock Origi dropping out of their starting eleven.

The Belgium international has five goals in his last seven matches, but he will now be starting the match from the bench against City.

Liverpool announced their team on their official Twitter account ahead of the encounter at Anfield.

Liverpool are currently sat in second place in England’s top flight as the closest competitors to league leaders Chelsea.

They have won their last three fixtures, but third placed Manchester City will be sure to provide a stern test with three wins from their previous three games too.

It will be the first time the two sides have met this campaign with their last clash bringing an emphatic 3-0 victory to the Reds with goals from Adam Lallana, James Milner and Roberto Firmino.

Another win for Klopp’s side will see them remain as Antonio Conte’s side closest challengers, as they are currently beating Stoke 3-2 on.

Meanwhile, a defeat would see them drop down to third with Arsenal still to play on Sunday, who could also leapfrog the Merseyside giants.
