Liverpool have been put on red alert after Neven Subotic has announced he wants to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer.

The 27-year-old has been linked to a number of different Premier League clubs and the Mirror claim the Merseysiders could revive their interest in the Germany international.

Subotic announced on his Facebook wall on Sunday that he want to quit Bundesliga giants Dortmund and join a club where he can play regularly.

“Dear friends, during the last year I realised that my love for the game of football in an active role is too big to just be able to see it from outside,” he wrote. “Football is an important part of my life. I love it and I can’t be without it.

“I do not want to earn my money on the bench, but to be an active part of the history like I was until last year. I hope you can understand that. Borussia Dortmund is the club of my heart and it will always be. Yours, Neven.”

Subotic has played his football at the Westfalenstadion stadium since 2008 but after featuring just six times in the Bundesliga this season he now believes it is time to move on.

The former Mainz centre-back has made 192 league appearances for the German outfit, scoring 15 times and only receiving one red card.

Subotic is contracted to Dortmund until June 2018 but is now attempting to engineer a transfer  this summer.

In other Liverpool news, Adam Lallana is set to start England’s last-16 Euro 2016 clash against Iceland on Monday and is expected to be join in the team by a club colleague.
