Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez has confirmed that the club could see a handful of late transfer exits after revealing several players were in talks over securing moves away.
The Magpies have had a quiet winter window in terms of both incomings and outgoings, with Chelsea loanee Kenedy the only new arrival while there have been no senior players to have left St James’ Park, with just several reserve figures departing on loan.
However Benitez has revealed that could all change with just a day and a half left of the transfer market, with the Press Association’s Damian Spellman quoting the Spanish boss on his personal Twitter account as stating that “two or three” players could be on their way as transfer talks progress.

Football Insider verdict
Newcastle knew that much of their transfer activity would be based on the amount of departures from St James’ Park, so they may well be frustrated that it has taken this long for talks to take place. However, if they can line up some immediate replacements and get deals done quickly, then it could well make for a busy transfer deadline day on Tyneside. While Benitez refuses to mention who the players in talks are, fans might be able to take a couple of guesses, and there are likely to be a number of loan departures among any permanent deals which are completed. All the club need to do is ensure there are new reinforcements lined up, otherwise it could turn out to be a calamitous final day of January.
