Rangers vice-captain Connor Goldson has agreed a deal in principle with Aris Limassol, sources have told Football Insider.

The 31-year-old has agreed on personal terms with the Cypriot club after flying out for initial talks, before returning for Wednesday's friendly against Birmingham City.

Rangers are close to agreeing on a fee with Limassol for the centre-back as they look to free up space on their wage bill.

Goldson is one of the top earners at Ibrox with a year remaining on a contract worth more than £30,000-a-week.

Connor Goldson set to leave Rangers after six years at the club

Goldson has been at Rangers since 2018, making 309 appearances for the club and establishing himself as an ever-present member of the squad.

Last season, he featured 48 times across all competitions, showing just how important he was to Philippe Clement's team.

Goldson played a huge role in Rangers' Scottish Premier League title win in 2020-21 and helped the club get to the Europa League final the season after.

The mass exodus continues at Rangers after ex-key players Keemar Roofe, Ryan Jack, John Lundstrum, and Borna Barasic all left the club on free transfers.

It's not all bad news though, Football Insider revealed (July 25) that Rangers are closing in on a deal for Wolfsurg winger Vaclav Cerny.
