Continental giants open talks with international after Celtic eyed swoop - report
By Danny Wright
South African titans Orlando Pirates are back in the hunt for Rivaldo Coetzee after his move to Celtic failed to materialise, according to a report.
News outlet Phakaaathi claims that they have been told by a source that the continental giants, who are one of the most well supported teams in Africa, are now in talks with Coetzee, 20 after his move to Parkhead broke down following a failed medical.
“Now that he is no longer going overseas, Pirates want him. The negotiations have started and they should proceed quite fast because the transfer window closes on Thursday,” said a source to Phakaaathi.
Celtic uncovered an issue with the South African international’s right foot during the formalities of a late summer transfer to Glasgow.
He has since returned to his club Ajax Cape Town and could now be looking to switch allegiances to a side that are much closer to home.

Brendan Rodgers has previously admitted that he is a big fan of the centre-back and was very transparent about how the Hoops tried to complete a swoop for him after the defensive line was left thinned out by injuries to Dedyrck Boyata and Erik Sviatchenko.
Football Insider Verdict
Celtic will have been left gutted to miss out on Coetzee. There’s nothing they can do about Orlando Pirates’ move for the centre-back now that he has failed a medical in Glasgow, but it will interesting to see if he does sign him them given his issue with his right foot. The Pirates will surely know about it, and that is a strange occurrence unless teams in South Africa tend to not make a big deal of that sort of thing. Celtic now have very limited time to bolster their backline. An injury to someone like Jozo Simunovic or even Nir Bitton could prove catastrophic to the Champions League hopes.
In other Celtic news, the Hoops are in advanced talks to seal this last-gasp striker signing.
