'He could cost England' - Redknapp issues warning about Tottenham star
By Danny Wright
Jamie Redknapp has warned that Dele Alli could make a costly mistake at an international tournament for England in the future due to his continued poor behaviour on the pitch.
The Tottenham star was caught swearing on live television during England’s 2-1 triumph over Slovakia in a World Cup qualifier at Wembley on Monday night, prompting potential punishment from FIFA.
It isn’t the first time that Alli, 21, has been in trouble due to his ill-discipline and former England and Spurs midfielder Redknapp believes that could lead to further trouble down the line.
However Redknapp added that his bad-boy streak could also see him become one of the key players for the Three Lions in the future.
“He has a level of aggression and hunger that is lacking in so many young English players. For many youngsters in academies everything is handed to them on a plate but Dele has had to graft his way to the top,” said Redknapp on the Daily Mail website.

“Of course his childish gesture on Monday set a bad example, and on another day it could have seen him sent off. With Dele, there is always the risk that he could cost England at a tournament.
“But that same streak is what drives him to conjure those moments of magic that will win matches for Tottenham and England. It is what makes him such a brilliant player.”
Luckily for Alli and Spurs, the midfield dynamo constantly finds himself in the headlines for more good things than bad, with his form last season being one of the real driving forces behind the London club’s bid to win a maiden Premier League title.
This season has also started well for the England international after scoring two goals in three appearances, despite the results not panning out too well for Spurs.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side return to domestic action on Saturday when they travel to Everton in what is likely to be a tough test for Alli and his team-mates.
