Crysencio Summerville struggled on Sunday as West Ham United suffered a late, controversial 1-0 defeat to Arsenal.

Leandro Trossard’s sole goal would prove to be the difference and put the Hammers in massive relegation trouble going into their final two matches of the season.

This came after Callum Wilson controversially had a stoppage-time equaliser disallowed after a VAR check deemed that David Raya had been fouled in the build-up.

Multiple players were poor against the Gunners, but one of the most disappointing displays came from Summerville, who simply could not make an impact.

The winger has been one of the club’s most influential stars this season, but for multiple games now, Summerville has not performed.

At the start of 2026, Summerville had been in superb form, and his goalscoring streak helped win multiple vital points.

Yet, in recent weeks, this has simply not happened, with his last goal coming in early March in the 1-0 victory against Fulham.

According to Fotmob on 10 May, Summerville was extremely poor against Arsenal and simply proved to be ineffective in attack.

Throughout the match, he managed just eight accurate passes; he did not create a single chance, he only managed one shot, which was off target, all of his crosses failed to find a West Ham man, and he was also dispossessed three times.

Given the importance of the final fixtures, West Ham cannot afford to carry out-of-form players in the squad.

Therefore, Nuno Espirito Santo would do well to assess Summerville’s place in the starting XI, and it should not be out of the question of drop him.

Will Summerville still be at West Ham next season?

Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Summerville could leave West Ham in the summer.

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to take advantage of the situation and are long-term admirers of the winger.

After seeing an approach turned down in the winter transfer window, they could now reignite their interest if the Hammers drop into the Championship.

West Ham would then be unable to resist approaches, which has put a number of clubs on alert after what has been an overall impressive campaign for Summerville despite the club’s struggles this season.
