Crystal Palace 'doing everything' to block Jaydee Canvot move after 'approach'
Crystal Palace are prepared to do everything in their power to keep Jaydee Canvot despite interest from Paris Saint-Germain.
The 20-year-old has established himself as a big part of Pierre Sage's long-term plans, and stepped in up as the replacement for Marc Guehi following his move to Man City.
Since his £20million move from Toulouse in 2025, the centre-back has made 41 appearances for the Eagles, and played a key role in their Conference League victory.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Crystal Palace have high hopes for Canvot's development and will not entertain talks over his exit.
This comes amid reports that PSG made an approach for the France Under-21 international during the summer, but saw their move quickly rebuffed by Palace.
Canvot is not seen as the finished article by any means, but has gone from strength to strength with an increase in playing time, and could become a crucial player for the Eagles.
Could Jaydee Canvot be allowed to leave Crystal Palace?
Football Insider reported in April that Crystal Palace may be fearful of losing Canvot as a result of his outstanding performances at Selhurst Park over the last 12 months.
Interest from PSG has come as a surprise to many, as the centre-back is still raw and has plenty of room to develop, but there are extremely high hopes for his future.
However, as he remains a key part of Sage's plans and the long-term plans at Crystal Palace, they are determined to bat away any interest from other clubs across Europe.
"Crystal Palace are determined to keep hold of Jaydee Canvot because he has been terrific for them," Brown told Football Insider.
"I'm told there was an approach from PSG in the summer, which is very interesting and shows that he is held in extremely high regard, but Palace wouldn't entertain that.
"From the player's point of view as well, he's playing near enough every week for Palace and really developing his game, that's what he needs at this stage of his career.
"So I'm sure Crystal Palace will be confident of keeping hold of him and they will be doing everything in their power to make sure he stays at the club."
What is next for Canvot at Crystal Palace?
Canvot remains extremely highly regarded at Selhurst Park, but has been one of a few players to fall victim of Sage's controversial man-management choices so far this season.
The centre-back endured a difficult 90 minutes against Fulham, and was subsequently dropped from the squad against Ipswich, with the boss insisting he must improve.
Brown warned Football Insider on 14 September that Sage is at risk of causing major issues with his Crystal Palace squad if he continues criticising his players in public.
The decision was also believed to have angered some members of the Palace hierarchy, adding to the growing pressure on the manager behind the scenes.
However, Sage was ultimately proved right as Canvot returned to the starting XI against Leeds and turned in an outstanding performance to earn a point at Elland Road.
