Crystal Palace set to 'explode' in the transfer market as triple signing now imminent

Crystal Palace have been tipped to "explode" in the closing stages of the transfer window as they prepare to add multiple new signings.

The Eagles have yet to splash out on a single transfer fee this summer, after the arrivals of Oscar Mingueza and Takehiro Tomiyasu on frees, and Dwight McNeil in a straight swap.

Pierre Sage's side are now closing in on deals for 19-year-old USA sensation Zavier Gozo and Union Saint-Gilloise wing-back Anan Khalaili as their plans get underway.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Crystal Palace have been prepared to wait until late in the window and are now ready to get their business done.

Palace are also prepared to sanction further departures in the final month of the window, in an attempt to raise funds for new additions and give them room to spend.

On top of the imminent arrivals of the afore-mentioned duo, the Eagles are also closing in on re-signing Evann Guessand from Aston Villa, as their transfer activity accelerates.

What are Crystal Palace planning in the transfer window?

Brown told Football Insider in June that this would be a "huge" window for Crystal Palace following Sage's appointment, with plans to back the manager with new signings.

Despite a slow start to the window, the Eagles are finally stepping up their efforts to bring in new players, with three on the way and at least two more expected afterwards.

Sage would like to add a new centre-back and central midfielder to his squad before the deadline, and with Palace's focus now shifting, they are prepared to match his ambitions.

"Crystal Palace always like to leave it late, and that's what it looks like they're doing," Brown told Football Insider.

"They've sold a few players now, brought in some funds, and it looks like they're going to be moving towards bringing new players in an backing the manager.

"Palace's squad doesn't need that many additions, they've only really lost Lacroix and other than that they've got the squad they won the Conference League with last year.

"So they probably need some depth in a few positions, but as I say, they've been working behind the scenes to identify these players who will improve their squad.

"I think things could explode for them in terms of the money they're spending, because there's not long left in the window and they do want to bring new players in.

"Leaving it late can cause problems sometimes, you miss out on players you might have been after, or other clubs come in and it's not easy to get deals over the line.

"But if Crystal Palace can get it right, there are some very good deals to be done, and it looks like that's where they're going to be focusing now."

Why have Crystal Palace left it late to do their business?

Anybody affiliated with Crystal Palace would be able to tell you, the Eagles always do their business late, as it has become a trademark of their time in the Premier League.

This has sometimes led to frustrations, with Oliver Glasner having spoken out publicly against the plans, but this summer's window has shown no change to their plans.

Brown explained to Football Insider on 11 August that Crystal Palace have been priorising player sales before they can be more active with incoming deals, hence the slow start.

Maxence Lacroix and Danny Imray have already been moved on, with Brennan Johnson sent to Everton, and Romain Esse closing in on a move to Club Brugge.

Meanwhile, the likes of Jesurun Rak-Sakyi and Justin Devenney have been linked with moves away, which could see Palace bolster their transfer kitty even further.
