Crystal Palace defender Mofe Jemide is in Portgual today finalising a move to Alverca, sources have told Football Insider.

The 19-year-old is set to complete a permanent move to the Portugese outfit in the coming hours after finalising medical checks and putting pen to paper on a contract.

Palace have accepted a bid for Jemide and he has agreed terms with the top-tier Portugese club.

Jemide has been highly regarded throughout his time in the Crystal Palace academy, but will now be allowed to move on as part of major changes at Selhurst Park.

His departure will follow that of a number of younger players from Crystal Palace, with the club looking to cash in on their academy products.

Jemide, a centre-back who is comfortable in possession and confident when building from the back, has been identified by Alverca as an option to improve their back line.

While he has not yet made his competitive debut in senior football, there is a belief that a move away could allow him to progress and become a regular in Portugal.

Why are Crystal Palace selling Mofe Jemide?

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 11 August that Crystal Palace are planning to cash in on a number of fringe players before the window closes.

Danny Imray became the first young player to leave Palace this summer, and Jemide looks set to follow him after finalising his move to Alverca.

Despite being highly regarded in Palace's academy, the centre-back suffered a string of significant injury issues which delayed his progress into their first-team plans.

Other options have now moved ahead of him in the race to earn first-team minutes, while the Eagles are set to land a substancial fee for his services.

A move to Portugal could allow the defender to kickstart his challenge for first-team minutes and hand him a clearer pathway to secure first-team football away from Selhurst Park.

Which other players could leave Crystal Palace?

Jemide is far from the only player who is expected to leave Crystal Palace in the closing stages of the summer transfer window, with other fringe players set to follow.

The likes of Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, David Ozoh and Justin Devenney are all being linked with moves away from Palace, and all would likely be permanent transfers.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 11 August that Club Brugge are making progress in talks to sign Romain Esse and are now hopeful of reaching an agreement.

The 21-year-old has struggled to make an impact at Selhurst Park since his £12million move from Millwall, and the door has now been opened for his permanent departure.

Esse's move to the Belgian giants has stalled in recent days, but is still expected to go through, with Palace keen to cash in and Brugge hopeful of adding him to their squad.
