Thomas Frank 'keen to make Premier League return' amid Crystal Palace whispers

Thomas Frank is keen to make a return to the Premier League in the near future with multiple top managers now under pressure.

The 52-year-old's last stint in management came with Tottenham, where he was let go in Febraury, although Spurs' situation has not improved much since his exit.

He remains very highly-regarded despite that blip, however, with clubs having taken note of his work to establish Brentford as a stable Premier League outfit.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Frank is eyeing a return to Premier League football and is already assessing potential destinations.

Crystal Palace have been tipped as the boss' next destination, with the Eagles long-term admirers of his amid the current uncertainty about the future of Pierre Sage.

Fulham have also been mentioned as potential contenders, with Alvaro Arbeloa facing scrutiny on his position, as Frank assesses multiple potential destinations.

Could Thomas Frank be a target for Crystal Palace?

Football Insider revealed back in February that Crystal Palace had sounded out Frank as a potential replacement for Oliver Glasner after his exit from Spurs.

They ultimately opted to go ahead with Sage, who has endured a slow start to life at Selhurst Park, leading to question marks about his long-term future at the club.

While Palace are not planning to change their manager imminently, they have been tipped to return to Frank if they do part ways with Sage.

"Thomas Frank will be keen to return to the Premier League soon," Brown told Football Insider.

"It's difficult for a manager being out of the game, he's been doing punditry and keeping himself busy, but there's always that allure of getting back into the day-to-day business.

"I'm sure he'll be keeping a close eye on the situations at a few clubs, you mentioned Crystal Palace and Fulham as potential destinations.

"I don't think either of those clubs are planning to make a change imminently, but Frank will surely be on their radar because he's still very highly regarded.

"The Tottenham job didn't go well for him, but that can be said of a number of managers recently. He did an excellent job with Brentford and that's why he's still well thought of."

What is the latest on Pierre Sage's future?

Crystal Palace's interest in Frank comes as they continue to deliberate over the future of Sage, after what has been a mixed start to life at Selhurst Park for the Frenchman.

The Eagles have endured a slow start to the Premier League season under their new boss, but have now lost just one of their last five games across all competitions.

Despite that upturn in form, Brown warned Football Insider on 21 September that Crystal Palace still have doubts about Sage's future and could soon pull the trigger.

While the boss has retained the backing of the supporters, who sung his name loudly in a show of support after the 0-0 draw with Leeds, there are concerns about the board's stance.

Decisions to drop big names from the squad entirely raised red flags, and while those players have lagrely responded well and results have improved, the board are doubtful.
