Curtis Jones to be ‘given the real truth’ on Aston Villa by Harvey Elliott amid transfer links
Curtis Jones will have spoken to Liverpool teammate Harvey Elliott about life at Aston Villa as Unai Emery’s side hold interest in signing the midfielder.
That is the view of former Aston Villa chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking to Football Insider, as Jones has emerged as a target for the club this summer.
Elliott has spent the season on loan at Aston Villa, but the 23-year-old has only made one Premier League start under Emery this season.
Whilst Elliott is expected to return to Liverpool, Jones could leave Anfield this summer with his contract at the club set to expire in 2027.
Aston Villa could have to sell players first in order to fund signings due to financial rules, but Emery looks set to be boosted by an expected return to the Champions League.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes Jones may not be the right player for Aston Villa, and any move could depend on the future of Morgan Rogers.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness though thinks Elliott could have a part to play in whether Jones considers a switch to Villa Park.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I can bet they have picked up the phone and have spoken to each other, and Harvey will have given him the real truth about what’s going on at Villa.
“It may not be Villa’s fault. I know the Villa set up. Bodymoor Heath, the training ground, is one of the best in Britain. So their place of work is excellent. Villa Park is going to be an interesting stadium with some changes.
“Do I really see Jones as a Villa type player? I really don’t think he might be the answer for them. Again, a lot depends on Morgan Rogers.
“Do they want to build around him and whether Curtis Jones really would be the right partner for Rogers in midfield? That’s what they’ve got to think about.”
Aston Villa set their price on midfield star
Whether Rogers leaves Aston Villa or not this summer, the potential departure of captain John McGinn could force Emery into the market for a new midfielder.
Sources have told Football Insider that Aston Villa have placed a £20million price tag on McGinn amid interest from Premier League rivals Everton.
The Villans could sanction the sale of McGinn if it helps to keep Rogers at the club, with striker Ollie Watkins and goalkeeper Emi Martinez other players who could be offloaded before the 23-year-old.
McGinn has played a pivotal role at the club since joining in 2018, and the 31-year-old remains one of the first names on the team sheet.
