Daniel Farke will be sacked by Leeds United if he fails to guide his team to promotion after missing out in the playoff final last season.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson, who remains very well-connected at the club explained that the boss will face pressure if results stop going in their favour.

Pressure on Farke has been eased after a strong run of form which has put Leeds within three points of Sunderland in first place.

However, following last season's playoff final defeat to Southampton, sections of the fanbase at Elland Road remain convinced that the manager is not the right man for the job.

Failure to achieve promotion at the second attempt this season would all but certainly see him dismissed as promotion to the Premier League has become crucial.

The financial situation at Elland Road is tricky, with the club having been forced to cash in on the likes of Archie Gray and Crysenico Summerville to balance the books in the summer.

Another year in the Championship would be a nightmare scenario for Leeds both on and off the pitch, and would see the boss lose his job.

Daniel Farke faces questions at Leeds United amid promotion verdict

Following last season's playoff final defeat, many had expected Farke to lose his job, but the board backed their man to achieve promotion at the second time of asking.

However, Robinson has now insisted that there will be serious questions asked if they look like missing out on promotion towards the end of the season.

"The requirement is to be in the Premier League," he told Football Insider.

"As soon as Leeds lose a game, fall out of the top two, or fall out of the playoffs and look like missing out on promotion then there's an issue.

"They came so close last year and they've shown what they can do now.

"With the squad of players at his disposal, they were pre-season favourites to go up.

"If he doesn't get Leeds United up this season then there are real questions over his job.

"You expect the manager, with those players, to get them out of the Championship.

"If he doesn't do it this year, there'll be major questions asked, but at the moment you stick with him and give him the rest of the season."
