Danny Mills has compared James Milner to Cristiano Ronaldo for the way he has kept himself in outstanding condition well into his 30s.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England defender insisted the Liverpool star “looks after himself like nobody on this planet”.
Mills insisted that even the iconic Ronaldo, 34, can’t compare to Milner, 33, in the way he which his entire existence is dedicated to maximising his football career.
The pundit paid tribute to the Liverpool vice-captain in a week when he delivered an outstanding performance in his side’s breathtaking Champions League win over Barcelona.
“Wow, he looks after himself like nobody on this planet,” Mils said to Football Insider. “People go on about Cristiano Ronaldo and how he looks after himself, but you should see James.
“Okay, Ronaldo is slightly better looking – and James won’t mind me saying that – and has the tan and doesn’t mind showing off the six-pack all the time.
“But James doesn’t drink, is teetotal, first into the training ground, last out of the training ground, does his rehab, conditioning, and looks after himself amazingly well.
“People talk about Ryan Giggs being in great condition and playing on forever, but James could easily do the same.”
Milner has made 43 appearances in all competitions for the Merseysiders this season, including 10 Champions League and 19 Premier League starts.
He made his Leeds United debut aged 16 in the same team as Mills and has had a glittering career that also included lengthy spells at Manchester City, Newcastle United and Aston Villa.
