Rangers' 2-0 win at Aberdeen kept Danny Rohl's side in touch with Scottish Premiership leaders Hearts.

Thelo Aasgaard and James Tavernier scored as Rangers beat Aberdeen 2-0 for the second time in the space of five days.

Celtic's 4-0 win over Dundee United and Hearts' 1-0 victory at Dundee, meant Rangers were under pressure to win at Pittodrie.

Rangers have won five league games in a row, but Rohl is grinding out wins and still needs to get the best out of one star.

Djeidi Gassama 'poor' in Rangers win

Rangers' appointment of Rohl as manager was met with the expectation that the performances of Djeidi Gassama would improve at Ibrox.

Gassama had worked under Rohl at Sheffield Wednesday previously, and the forward has been a regular starter under the German at Rangers.

Rangers have no interest in selling Gassama in the January window, but fans want to see more end product from the 22-year-old.

Supporters believe Gassama was quiet against Aberdeen, claiming that the Frenchman winning the penalty which Tavernier converted in the 74th minute was the "only thing he had done."
