Darren Anderton has described Tottenham’s final ever match at White Hart Lane as the “perfect day” as they beat Manchester United 2-1.

The curtain fell on the Lane during Sunday’s Premier League triumph, as Spurs relocate to Wembley for 2017-18 to allow the demolition of the old and reconstruction of their new stadium.

Posting on his personal Twitter account, Spurs icon and former midfielder Anderton sent a video from the centre-circle as Tottenham’s fans created a spine-tingling atmosphere.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side continued their impeccable home form this season with a 13th consecutive league victory at the Lane over Jose Mourinho’s United.

Midfield enforcer Victor Wanyama opened the scoring in the first half with a powerful header that gave David de Gea no chance.

Spurs lead was doubled in the second half as Harry Kane cleverly flicked home a Christian Eriksen cross under the nose of defender Chris Smalling.

England captain Wayne Rooney did get one back for United, but there was no stopping Spurs in their final outing at White Hart Lane.

The win confirms that the north London giants will finish the Premier League campaign in second with two games to play, after winning 24 of their 36 league matches this season.

Spurs travel to last season’s champions Leicester City on Thursday night, before facing relegated Hull City at the KCOM Stadium on Sunday in the final fixture of the season.
