Exclusive: Darren Bent questions attitude of Augustin after Leeds arrival
Darren Bent has claimed Leeds United have only been able to sign Jean-Kevin Augustin because of question marks over his attitude.
Speaking to Football Insider, the ex-England striker insisted that the French striker, 22, is a “great” capture but his arrival at Elland Road says more about his career hitting a crossroads than anything else.
Augustin has joined Leeds on a loan-to-buy deal from RB Leipzig worth a potential £20million after his season-long at Monaco was terminated last week at the midway point.
Bent told Football Insider: “It’s a great signing for them, you’d obviously have to say that ability-wise, Augustin is brilliant but it must be the attitude side which is why he’s been allowed to go to Leeds.
“For Leeds United it’s a great, great signing, he’s got bags of ability and I’m really excited to see him play.”
Augustin has not featured in either of United’s matches since his arrival, with supporters left baffled when he was omitted from the matchday squad for Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat to Wigan Athletic.

Marcelo Bielsa warned last Thursday that it would take time for Augustin to complete the necessary adaptation period following his move from Germany via France.
He explained that with previous signings that period usually took more than one month, but it was still a surprise that he did not even make the bench against Wigan on a day when Leeds had 73 per cent possession and 18 shots on goal yielding nothing.
In other Leeds United news, it can be REVEALED that the club have agreed a £2.5m deal after fee finalised.
