David Moyes could be set for a sensational return to Everton as he aims to get back into football management, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the 61-year-old wants to get back into the game “sooner rather than later.”

Moyes has been out of football since leaving West Ham in the summer, but he has been heavily linked with a return to Goodison Park.

Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that Moyes would be interested in returning to the Merseyside giants, and he is thought to be “pretty high up” on the list of potential replacements if the club decides to switch their nanager.

Moyes is seen as a “safe pair of hands” if he was to get the job, as his experience should be enough to help keep the club in the Premier League.

Everton currently sit 15th in the Premier League table, with a five-point gap between them and the relegation zone.

Sean Dyche is clinging onto his Everton position - ex-boss David Moyes primed

Sean Dyche is under serious pressure at Everton after guiding his team to only three wins out of their opening 14 matches.

However, he did have a very good result in midweek against fellow strugglers Wolves as they beat Gary O’Neil’s team 4-0.

Dyche is out of contract at the end of this season, unless a new deal can be agreed between the two parties.

The Friedkin Group are expected to make a firm decision on the managerial situation once the takeover is fully completed.
