David Prutton delivers Leeds verdict after win against Birmingham
By Harvey Byrne
Former Leeds man and Sky Sports pundit David Prutton believes Leeds have done “fantastically well” this season and answered critics after their win against Birmingham on Friday.
The Yorkshire giants earned a crucial 3-1 victory over the Midlands side at St. Andrews with a Chris Wood double and Alfonso Pedraza effort cancelling out a Craig Gardner strike.
Prutton singled out the powerful New Zealand forward for his impressive display, labelling him “fantastic”.
But, Prutton also believes there were questions previously asked of Leeds as to whether they could perform the same way on the road as they do at their famous Elland Road home.
“They’ve been in a position where they’ve been asked questions about playing from away from home,” started Prutton speaking on Saturday evening’s EFL Goals show.

“Can they still be as prolific as they have been. Chris Wood, yep, absolutely fantastic. The lad can’t stop scoring. I think Leeds went into it more comfortable.
“It’s about being clinical, it’s about being prolific and I think that confidence does play a massive part in that. We looked at how they have developed this season and how they worked through minor blips and gone beyond the teams that are in front of them.
“They’ve done fantastically well and they’re another team looking to cement their place in the play-offs.”
Leeds have won 38 points from their 18 home league fixtures this season, placing them in third in the home league table.
Meanwhile, they have picked up 12 points less on the road with 26 from their 17 away matches, which leaves them in sixth place in the away league table.
However, in the table that matters the Yorkshire giants currently sit in fourth place with 11 matches left this season and they will keen to secure a top six placing when the campaign reaches it’s end.
Garry Monk’s side will be facing seventh placed Fulham at Craven Cottage on Tuesday and a positive result for the club could have a huge say in the final standings.
