Davies has 'no future' at Liverpool after podcast reveal - Campbell

Ben Davies has no future at Liverpool now Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez have returned from injury.

That is the view of former Premier League striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Davies’ long-term future at Anfield.

The 26-year-old moved to Liverpool from Preston North End in February 2020.

However, he is currently on loan at Sheffield United having failed to establish himself in Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Blades reporter Nathan Hemmingham told the Blood Red: Podcast (October 10th) that Davies plans to return to Liverpool next summer “to see if the door is open”.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of Davies’ situation, Campbell said: “I can’t see a future for him at Liverpool.

“Joe Gomez cannot get a game at the moment and he is a quality, England international.

“It is great to hear he wants to knuckle down and make an impression next season but he has to be realistic. You have to look at the strength in depth Liverpool have in that position now. They’re spoilt.

“In the best case scenario, he will be fourth choice. That is the best he can hope for I’m afraid.

“I know it is tough to take because he went there with the best intentions. But he has to play football. He is talented young man. He has to play regular football.”
