Everton midfielder Wayne Rooney is in “serious talks” with Washington DC about a move to the MLS in the summer, according to a report.
But supporters of the American side are mainly against the news.
The Washington Post claims that the 32-year-old, who reportedly earns in the region of £150,000-a-week at Goodison, has a 50% chance of joining the club.
However, his manager at the Blues, Sam Allardyce, has reacted to the reports and said that it would take a “massive offer” to see the former Manchester United and England hitman exit the club.
Despite a good start to his return at his boyhood club, Rooney’s form has nose-dived and when he was substituted against Liverpool in the Premier League back in April, he appeared visibly frustrated.
However, Big Sam chose to continue with the player in the next game despite the fact that fans were growing increasingly concerned with the player’s form, as well as his lack of guile and pace.

And it would appear those worries have crossed the Atlantic, as fans of the MLS side are not overawed to hear that the all-time England international top scorer could be making the switch to America, with just a few positive responses.
Here is a selection of Washington DC United fans reacting to the news of Rooney’s potential arrival:
