Klopp sanctions move for top prospect as Liverpool agree midfielder loan move - report
Liverpool’s 20-year-old midfielder Ovie Ejaria is set to join Championship side Sunderland with a late loan move to the Stadium of Light this transfer window, according to a report.
The Sun has revealed that the England U20s star, who is highly thought of by Jurgen Klopp, has been given the green light to head to the north-east for the remainder of the season, although no official news has come from either club.
The Sun claim that Klopp thinks of him as one of his “top prospects”.
Ejaria, a former Arsenal academy starlet, has made it to the fringes of the first team but despite making eight appearances last season, he is yet to make a single outing for the senior side this term.
At Sunderland, Ejaria will join a struggling Championship side managed by Chris Coleman, who are desperate to avoid relegation into League One.
Football Insider verdict:
This could be the break that Ejaria needs. A battle in the Championship would be a fantastic experience for the youngster and an opportunity to come back a stronger player when he returns to Anfield in the summer. The England U20 international has already proved his talents at youth level and this is a chance to show his worth at senior level. At 20, the midfielder is already highly-rated by the Merseyside outfit and under Coleman – known to blood youth – he has a manager who will show his faith in the player’s ability.
