Newcastle United on the verge of completing a deal to offload goalkeeper Matz Sels this summer, according to a reliable journalist.
Belgian football expert John Chapman, who writes for ESPN FC, claimed on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday that the 25-year-old stopper had passed a medical ahead of a proposed move to Anderlecht.

The Newcastle man was only brought to the club by Rafa Benitez a year ago, and began the 2016-17 campaign as first-choice, but he has since fallen out-of-favour on Tyneside.
Benitez has no shortage of goalkeeping options at his disposal ahead of their return to the Premier League, with Sels currently competing for a place alongside Rob Elliot, Karl Darlow and Tim Krul.
However, the Spaniard is also reportedly keen to add another stopper to his ranks, but not before a significant clear-out of the first-team squad.
Sels looks set to be the first of Newcastle’s first-team outcasts to be offloaded this summer, with Chapman claiming he will move to the Belgian giants on a season-long loan deal.
He made just 14 appearances in all competitions for Newcastle last season, including starts in each of their first nine league matches, and kept five clean sheets.
But he was dropped to the bench for their 10th league outing to accommodate the return of Darlow, and he remained an unused substitute through until February, before he was dropped from the side all together.
Football Insider verdict
Offload Sels is the right decision from Newcastle. Benitez was right to bring in a new stopper last summer due to the injury status of Elliot, but now the position is packed full with competition. Elliot is now fit again, and Krul has returned from a loan spell. However, of the four stoppers, Sels has arguably proved the weakest asset, even though he wasn’t given much of a chance in the first-team squad. A full season of regular first-team football can be of great benefit to him, and he can show Benitez exactly what he is capable of.
