Rodgers must hand Celtic player debut in clash v Aberdeen after midweek shocker

COMMENT
Brendan Rodgers must hand a debut to recent Celtic arrival Scott Bain in Sunday’s Scottish Premiership game against Aberdeen.
The Hoops boss may like Dorus de Vries, but the Dutchman’s days as the number one goalkeeper should be numbered after a shocking display against Zenit in the midweek.
The 37-year-old looked clueless as he was beaten by a swerving shot by Zenit’s Daler Kuzyaev for the Russian side’s pivotal second goal.
Every team that the Hoops play from now on will just shoot on sight, as they will expect de Vries to make a mistake.
This can’t last any longer, and Bain, who was number one at Dundee before a falling out with manager Neil McCann, should be drafted in to make his first appearance for the Bhoys.
Bain being in goals would be a sign to the support ahead of a pivotal match against Aberdeen that that the Hoops manager isn’t prepared to countenance any more poor performances in his team, and he is prepared to make the big changes.
Celtic need to bounce back from the humbling loss to Zenit with a statement performance against Aberdeen, to show that they are still the team to beat in Scotland. A start for Bain would be a good start to the statement.
