Celtic and West Ham legend Frank McAvennie joined the Football Insider stable in June 2020 and has not disappointed with his own brand of unique punditry. He loves talking football almost as much as he loved scoring goals, and still has close links in the dressing room at Parkhead.

Frank McAvennie has claimed Declan Rice's exit is inevitable but urged him to choose Liverpool over Man City.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker suggested that if Rice chose City over the Anfield club it would be for the money.

Alongside the Sky Blues, Chelsea are said to be interested in the England international whose contract expires in 2024.

In April this year, David Moyes revealed in a press conference that £150million would be the "minimum" West Ham would let the midfielder leave for.

McAvennie hopes the Hammers can hold on to Rice for a little longer.

"I hope they can keep him for another year or two but it is inevitable he is going to go," he told Football Insider.

"He is not going to go to Man City where he is not going to get a game, look at his partner for England we have not seen him since he went there.

"You want to go and play. If he wants to go to Liverpool fine, if he wants to go to Man City it will just be for the money. He might get a trophy and win the league but he is not going to play as many games as he would if he was at Liverpool.

"For me, that means everything. That means a lot more than just winning a trophy."
