'Deduction please' - Leeds fans react on Twitter to Newcastle stadium raid

By Harvey Byrne

Leeds fans on Twitter have called for a points deduction after Newcastle had their stadium raided as part of a police investigation on Wednesday morning.

Sky Sports reported on their official Twitter account that police had raided the Magpies’ St. James’ Park alongside West Ham’s London Stadium.

The Toons’ managing director Lee Charnley was also arrested, bringing a dampener on what was a successful week for the north east giants as they won promotion back to the Premeir League on Monday.

The news has seemingly caught a lot of the Leeds supporters attentions on social media with their own club sat in seventh place and 15 points behind Newcastle.

Many have been keen for the powers at the top to hand Rafa Benitez’ team a points deduction in an attempt to achieve a promotion spot at this late stage.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Leeds have hit a miserable run of form as the season nears it’s end with just one win from their last six league games.

It is unlikely that Newcastle will be handed a points deduction despite the fans wishes, meaning the Yorkshire giants will have to do it out on the pitch with games against Norwich and Wigan coming up in their final two fixtures.
