Defender trains on his own with talks ongoing between current club and Tottenham - report

By Harvey Byrne

Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez trained on his own on Tuesday after informing coaches that he did not wish to be there, according to a report.

The Daily Mail have claimed on their live transfer blog (Tuesday, 2.02pm) that the 21-year-old worked in the gym while his teammates trained outside with talks currently ongoing between Tottenham and Ajax over a fee for the Colombia international.

The Mail report follows on from a claim from Sky Sports Italy correspondent Gianluca Di Marzio via his personal website that Spurs are in line to complete a £36million move for the centre-back on Tuesday.

However, from the Mail report it would seem that a deal is still some way away from completion with the two clubs yet to have settled on a fee.

Tottenham themselves have not yet made a signing this summer with many keen to do so after the sale of Kyle Walker to Manchester City.

There is also speculation surrounding the future of Kevin Wimmer at the club and Mauricio Pochettino may view Sanchez, who has played 47 times in total for the Ajax first team as a replacement for the Austrian.

The young centre-back does however have four years remaining on his contract at the Dutch club still, meaning Tottenham may have to break their £30million transfer record to bring in Sanchez.

In other Tottenham transfer news, Spurs are ready to consider offers for this 23-year-old.
