Thomas Frank may have to prepare for Dejan Kulusevski's departure as Tottenham continue to rebuild the squad in North London.

Everyone at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium experienced a difficult 2024/25 campaign, with Daniel Levy making the difficult decision to sack Ange Postecoglou despite winning the Europa League title.

That left a sour taste in the mouths of many current stars, with the owner facing a toxic revolt from the Tottenham players [The Telegraph], who grew close to the former Celtic figure over the last two seasons.

Alfie Whiteman, Sergio Reguilon, and Fraser Forster have all been allowed to leave as free agents, with Alejo Veliz also leaving on loan, and that is unlikely to be the end of the exits this summer.

Dejan Kulusevski to eye shock exit at Tottenham

Cristian Romero, Pedro Porro, Yves Bissouma, Son Heung-min, and Richarlison have all been linked with exits ahead of the summer, but it is Kulusevski's future which is likely to produce the most concern.

Mick Brown told Football Insider in April that Kulusevski is open to leaving Tottenham following a frustrating season in North London, with both AC Milan and Napoli interested.

While it is understood that the Lilywhites are reluctant to let the Sweden international depart, viewing him as a key figure for the future, Frank is clearly rebuilding the squad as we speak.

Approaches have already been made for Brentford duo Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, with the latter far more likely to join Spurs, but Nottingham Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White has now joined the conversation.

Thomas Frank to sign Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest

According to The Athletic's David Ornstein (10 July), Spurs have turned their attentions to signing Gibbs-White, with Frank holding a long-standing interest in the player.

This gives Kulusevski another reason to find a new club this summer, with the England international likely to occupy a similar position on the pitch to him and James Maddison.

The Telegraph's John Percy (10 July) has also revealed on X that Tottenham are ready to trigger Gibbs-White's £60million release clause, making a move for him all the more appealing.

News has moved quickly, with The Telegraph's Mike McGrath reporting on X that the 25-year-old will undergo a medical on Friday, 11 July, with no issues expected over personal terms.

With Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson, Son, Wilson Odobert, and Mathys Tel all available in attack, there needs to be some space made in North London, and Kulusevski could make way this summer.

Supporters, of course, would be upset to see the 25-year-old leave, but after a set of frustrating performances on the pitch and an injury-hit campaign, he could look to start again elsewhere.
