Sources: English club plot January swoop for Celtic big earner telling friends he wants to quit
Derby County a plotting a fresh January swoop for frozen-out Celtic winger Scott Sinclair, Football Insider has learned.
The 30-year-old has not started a single match all season and failed to make the matchday squad for Saturday’s 4-0 win over Livingston despite the absence of first choice Mohamed Elyounoussi.
A Derby source has told Football Insider that the club are keeping tabs on the situation of Sinclair as they look to strengthen in the wide attacking areas in the winter window.
As revealed by Football Insider, the Championship big guns tried to land Sinclair in the summer but could not agree a deal and instead signed Jamie Paterson on loan from Bristol City.
Paterson has featured sporadically this season along with fellow wide players Mason Bennett and Florian Jozefzoon, and manager Phillip Cocu had often used central players such as Duane Holmes, Martyn Waghorn or Tom Lawrence on the flanks instead.
Sinclair has told friends he is eager for a new challenge after plummeting down the Celtic pecking order since Neil Lennon took the reigns in late February.

The high-earning attacker, whose deal is worth more than £30,000-a-week, is eyeing the January window to provide a route back south of the border.
Sinclair is out of contract at the end of the season and he can be snapped up for a bargain fee.
Sinclair has been given just 86 senior minutes all season with his six appearances coming as a substitute.
He is behind not only Elyounoussi in the battle for the left-wing role he once made his own at Celtic, but also Mikey Johnson, Jonny Hayes, Lewis Morgan and the versatile Ryan Christie.
He has regularly posted messages on his social media accounts over the last few months showing him keeping in shape by doing extra gym sessions and working hard on his fitness behind the scenes.
