Sky Sports pundit delivers emphatic verdict on Tottenham title chances
By Aramide Oladipo
Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness believes that Tottenham will not win the Premier League title this season and claimed that their “chances have diminished” due to a lack of reinforcements this summer.
The North London club have only managed to sign one player during the transfer window as central defender Davison Sanchez completed a deal from Dutch side Ajax on Friday.
Spurs also suffered a loss as last season’s first-choice right-back Kyle Walker was allowed to move to Premier League rivals Manchester City this summer.
The notion is that Spurs have a fantastic first eleven but they could potentially struggle should their key men pick up any serious injuries or suspension throughout the course of the season.
Writing in his column for the Times, Souness, who is a regular on Sky Sports, believes that Spurs are in danger of losing their best players if they fail to mount a serious challenge on the league title.

“Chelsea and Tottenham were the top two teams in last season’s Premier League, but I don’t believe either club will win the title this year as things stand,” he wrote.
“Are they stronger than they were last season? No.Tottenham’s young team should only get better, in theory, but they have not made any additions to it, with the caveat they could still do so before the end of the transfer window.
“Tottenham’s chances have diminished. Kyle Walker has already moved to Manchester City for £50m and Danny Rose could follow for a similar fee, perhaps to Chelsea or Manchester United, after publicly airing his discontent at the club’s policy on recruitment and wages.
“If Tottenham don’t have a good season, either because they are playing their home games at Wembley or other teams are stronger, some of the other key players will be wound up by agents about the kind of money they could be earning elsewhere.”
Despite failing to add to their squad, Spurs got off to the perfect start in the Premier League campaign last weekend with a 2-0 victory at St James’ Park against Newcastle United.
The team’s title credentials will be put to the ultimate test on Sunday afternoon when they host champions Chelsea at Wembley Stadium.
