'What a disgrace' - Lord Sugar slams Tottenham after win v Barnsley

By Harvey Byrne

Celebrity fan and former chairman Lord Sugar has slammed Tottenham after their slender 1-0 victory over Barnsley in the League Cup on Tuesday evening, labelling it a disgrace.

The north London side were faced with the Yorkshire-based Championship club as their opposition in the third round of the domestic cup competition at Wembley.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino also showed how he was treating the competition this time around by naming a fairly strong team with the likes of Jan Vertonghen, Kieran Tripper, Son Heung-min, Dele Alli, Fernando Llorente and Moussa Dembele all in the starting line-up.

However, a goal from first team star Alli right after the hour mark was the only difference between the two English clubs on Tuesday evening.

This seemingly caused some concern to some onlookers and that includes Sugar, who stated on his personal Twitter account after the match that Tottenham need to wake up and at half time he also labelled the display as a “bloody joke.”

It is of course a common theme to see some Premier League clubs struggle in the League Cup and on Tuesday evening the likes of Liverpool, Stoke, Huddersfield and Brighton all crashed out.

However, Tottenham, who have also had a slow start to their league campaign will also be hoping that performances start improving soon after last season’s second finish.
