Djed Spence: Pundit shares 'excited' Tottenham claim after source's update on 'incredible' star

Tottenham will be the team to watch during the 2022-23 season as the club nears the signing of Djed Spence.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Spurs’ chances of winning a trophy in the near future.

On 10 June, this site revealed Tottenham are in advanced talks to sign Djed Spence from Middlesbrough.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Spurs are closing in on a breakthrough after intensifying their Spence pursuit in recent days.

He will join Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty as right-back options available to Antonio Conte.

Kenny can’t wait to see Sours in action once they conclude a deal for Spence.

“Spence is going to be a great signing,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He’s another up-and-coming player that has done really well.

“I’m excited to see what Tottenham do next season. I’m sure Conte will be looking for a trophy somewhere along the line.

“I love watching his teams and they were very strong at the end of the season.

“I think they will be the team to watch next year and I have said before how much of a fan I am of Spence.

“He was incredible last season.”

Spence has enhanced his reputation over the last year while playing an instrumental role in Nottingham Forest’s promotion bid.

He made 40 league starts among 50 appearances in all competitions during 2021-22, and started all their play-off wins.

In other news, Tottenham will benefit from a “huge” new Heung-Min Son development.
