Dominik Szoboszlai sends surprise response to Erling Haaland’s Man City message

Jack Grealish and Dominik Szoboszlai will both be hoping to emulate Erling Haaland’s two-word message after the Manchester Derby.

Manchester City came away victorious from their first meeting with Ruben Amorim’s Man United side, after both clubs suffered poor starts to the Premier League season and languished in mid-table early on.

Pep Guardiola was already under pressure to beat Man United in Sunday’s clash after Man City went into the derby following successive defeats to Tottenham and Brighton, but that pressure has now dissipated.

A 3-0 victory for Man City at the Etihad Stadium saw Phil Foden return to both the starting lineup and the scoresheet, as Haaland entered the record books and the sacking pressure was heaped firmly back onto Amorim‘s shoulders.

‘Our City’ – Erling Haaland speaks out after Man City record levelled

Haaland’s two second-half goals put the result beyond doubt for Man City as they put their rivals to the sword, and saw him draw level with Sergio Aguero as the top Manchester Derby goalscorer for the club.

After a man-of-the-match display, two goals and a record levelled against City’s arch-rivals, Haaland posted on Instagram to re-assert their dominance over Man United with the message of: “Our CITY”.

A number of Haaland’s Man City team-mates liked the Norway striker’s post, but so too did Everton loanee Jack Grealish and, more surprisingly, Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai ahead of the season’s first Merseyside Derby.

Football Insider Verdict

Man City were knocked off their perch as the Premier League’s – and the north west’s – premier team by Liverpool last season, and the Reds have begun the new campaign with four wins from their four games.

However, City’s dominance in the derby re-affirmed their Premier League title ambitions as they look to reclaim the crown from Liverpool, and fans will be hoping for at least two dropped points on Saturday.

Grealish has hit the ground running and then some at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and after winning the Premier League’s player of the month award in his first month at Everton, Grealish could still play a key role in City’s eventual title fight.
