Nottingham Forest have confirmed that striker Arvin Appiah has signed his first professional contract with the club. The 17-year-old has been a regular at the Under-16 and Under-18 level and recently helped the latter get to the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup. He has come up through the youth ranks at the club and is seen as a promising talent for the future. The news was announced on the official Nottingham Forest Twitter page on Wednesday afternoon.

Appiah has also played five games for England's Under-17 side where he has scored two goals, most recently in the game against Portugal last November.

Football Insider verdict:

Nottingham Forest fans might be more concerned with signings for the senior squad but there's good work going on behind the scenes as well. Appiah has come up through the ranks at the Nottingham academy and is highly regarded both in his club and appearances for the England youth teams.
