Done deal: Enforcer agrees to join Aston Villa

Mile Jedinak has joined Aston Villa from Crystal Palace, it was announced on Wednesday.

The midfield enforcer has agreed a three-year deal with the Midlands club after deciding to drop down from the Premier League.

Villa unveiled the new signing on their website and official Twitter account on Wednesday evening.

Jedinak, 32 has become the club’s sixth signing of the summer as Roberto Di Matteo adds another player to strengthen the spine of the team.

The Midlands side have signed James Chester, Ross McCormack, Pierluigi Gollini, Aaron Tshibola and Tommy Elphick on long-term contracts, with supporters praising the work of manager Di Matteo and club owner Tony Xia in recent weeks.

Jedinak will now compete for a first-team spot with Ashley Westwood, Gary Gardner and Aaron Tshibola, with all three featuring so far this season.

But the combative midfielder will be unavailable for selection until his registration with the FA and English Football League is complete.
