Aston Villa have confirmed that youngster Harvey Knibbs has agreed to sign his first professional contract with the Championship club.
The emerging striker took to his personal Twitter account on Saturday evening to announce the news, while a statement on Villa’s official website revealed that he had put “pen to paper on a two-year deal”.
The 18-year-old was understandably delighted to have been offered the deal, which will see his stay at Villa Park extended until 2019.
“Dream come true to have signed my first professional contract at Aston Villa proud day for me and my family,” Knibbs said on his Twitter account.

Knibbs was a second-year scholar in the Villa youth set-up last season as he featured for the West Midlands outfit’s Under-18 side.
His performance of the season easily came when he managed to net four goals in the 7-0 thrashing of Broxbourne Borough in the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup.
The striker, who can also play on either wing, also earned one appearance for the Villa Under-23 side in Premier League 2 last term when he featured for 15 minutes of the 2-1 win over local rivals Wolves in March.
In total, Knibbs scored 11 goals in 27 appearances across all competitions for the Under-18 side during the 2016/17 season.
Football Insider Verdict
Knibbs’ stats certainly speak for themselves and he looks as though he will go on to have a good career in the future. Villa fans are very proud of their academy, which has seen Andre Green and Jack Grealish break into the senior team in recent years. Knibbs will surely want to follow their footsteps to play in front of the Holte End in the not too distant future. A two-year professional deal confirms that the Villains have high hopes for the 18-year-old. It’s always good to see top clubs develop young talent and maybe a loan move away from Villa Park next season could see him earn some invaluable experience.
