Door is open for Tottenham to sign Vestergaard after update - pundit
Jannik Vestergaard would be a good signing for Tottenham and Southampton may be forced to sell this summer.
That is the view of ex-England and Premier League full-back Danny Mills, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 28-year-old’s situation.
The Times reported on 5 July that Spurs have entered negotiations with Southampton over Vestergaard.
He has just 12 months left on his Saints deal and is valued at more than the £18million they paid Werder Bremen for him three years ago.
The 6ft 5in Denmark international has played 79 games across all competitions for the Premier League club.
He also played a key role in his country’s run to the European Championship semi-final before their defeat to England at Wembley.

Asked whether he could improve the Tottenham defence, Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Definitely.
“I think he’s a good player and that’s not just what he’s done at the Euros. He was a good player before that.
“Never just buy a player off the back of four or five games at the European Championship. That’s never a wise move.
“But he’s been a good player long before that. Playing in the Euros has confirmed how good he is. Yes, I think it will be a good move.
“Coming from Southampton it will be a step up. With a year left if they get good money for him, they might just be ready to take it.”
Vestergaard played 30 Premier League games for Southampton last term.
He also featured in all six of Denmark’s games at the European Championship.
